Rosary meditations for persecuted Christians

Aid to the Church in Need published yesterday a series of meditations to accompany the praying of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary with and for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Iraq.

By Divine Providence, it was also announced yesterday that His Holiness Pope Francis, who had already summoned the Cardinals to Rome for a Consistory for the Causes of Saints on October 20, 2014. To this agenda, the Holy Father has decided to add a discussion of the plight of Christians in the Middle East.

We would do well to accompany this discussion with our prayers because we are N. During this month dedicated to the rosary, it is especially fitting for us to pray the rosary for those who suffer for the sake of the Gospel. I suggest, then, that each day until the Consistory meets on October 20th we make use of the meditations provided by Aid to the Church in Need.

While the meditations are written specifically for the situation in the Middle East, there is no reason we could not adapt them slightly toward the situation of our brothers and sisters in the north of Nigeria, who also are in great need of our prayers as the persecution by Boko Haram continues to grow and spread.
