Though I awoke this morning in Assisi, my favorite city in the world, where I am to continue working on speaking in Italian, my thoughts dwelt on an island chain many thousands of miles away from which I returned to the United States' Mainland one week ago today. In particular, the words of one song continually ran through my mind, "Ehukai" by Molokai Slide:
I was not able to visit Molokai this trip to the islands, but the sentiments of the song express well my sentiments about the island of Oahu.
Given the time difference between Italy and Hawaii is 12 hours, waking up with such thoughts was a bit jarring, even if not altogether unexpected.
